"Joe Cunningham should immediately denounce Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's ignorant and completely inappropriate comments stating 'the United States is running concentration camps on our southern border.' 

Not only are her comments completely lacking in any knowledge of the history and pain inflicted by the horrors of the Holocaust, but they are particularly insulting to our Jewish neighbors and our entire community of believers of all faiths in the Lowcountry, who know better than to belittle or diminish the horrors of the Holocaust.

As quickly as Joe Cunningham has issued statements in the past on other issues, his silence over the past 24 hours on this is disturbing. I call on Joe Cunningham to immediately condemn the horribly insulting and ignorant remarks of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and state unequivocally that he does not agree that 'the United States is running concentration camps on our southern border.' 

I would also ask Joe Cunningham to encourage colleague Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to visit the Holocaust museum in Washington to see just a glimpse of the terrors endured by the Jewish people in concentration camps."
